What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based psychological approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and behaviours. It is based on the idea that unhelpful thinking patterns and learned behaviours can maintain psychological distress.
In CBT, individuals work collaboratively with their therapist to identify and challenge negative or distorted thoughts, develop more balanced thinking, and gradually change unhelpful behaviours.
CBT aims to equip individuals with skills to manage difficulties more effectively and become their own therapist over time.
